The Drenik Family portrait brought to you by Olan Mills

So Jason and Uly were testing out the new MR-8. Dad was teching for Uly who was laying down his sweet vocal tracks. So much fun.

Uly has found that he doesn't have to be water painting to draw on his face. Just go into mom's basket under the counter and get her liquid eyeliner out. "Look mom I'm a kitty!"

Oh no, we did it now. We thought it would be fun to take Uly to Chuck E.Cheese since the weather has been so rainy and cold and we had never been there before. I mean it's where a kid can be a kid, right? He's hooked, what have we done? Our lives will never be the same....chuckecheesechuckecheesechuckecheeseeeeeeeeIwannagotoCHUCKECHEESE!

New Animal Resembling Furry Lobster Found

A team of American-led divers has discovered a new crustacean in the South Pacific that resembles a lobster and is covered with what looks like silky, blond fur, French researchers said Tuesday.

Scientists said the animal, which they named Kiwa hirsuta, was so distinct from other species that they created a new family and genus for it.

The divers found the animal in waters 7,540 feet deep at a site 900 miles south of Easter Island last year, according to Michel Segonzac of the French Institute for Sea Exploration.

The new crustacean is described in the journal of the National Museum of Natural History in Paris.

The animal is white and just shy of 6 inches long — about the size of a salad plate.

In what Segonzac described as a "surprising characteristic," the animal's pincers are covered with sinuous, hair-like strands.

It is also blind. The researchers found it had only "the vestige of a membrane" in place of eyes, Segonzac said.

The researchers said that while legions of new ocean species are discovered each year, it is quite rare to find one that merits a new family.

The family was named Kiwaida, from Kiwa, the goddess of crustaceans in Polynesian mythology.

The diving expedition was organized by Robert Vrijenhoek of the Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute in California.

Photo of my sneakers by Jas.

Monday, March 06, 2006

So sunday at church we were settling down to listen to the sermon when the nursery beeper went off. Light flashing and vibrating all over the pew.Well I told Jason I would be right back, I was going to check on Uly in the nursery. I could already hear him crying as I rounded the corner and down the hall. As I walked in and scooped him up, I asked how long ago had they paged me, as I hadn't been holding the pager I wasn't sure how long it had been going off. The girls looked at each other and than at me and said, "we didn't page you, Uly had just started crying and we thought we would try to calm him down first".

Just a mother's intuition...........
